On the ‘separate but equal’ argument

Put Lord Roger up in Lights. He’s a champion for the disaster a “Yes” will bring…
Look what happened 150 or so years after American slavery ended – one of them took the Presidency! And here in Oz disaster came quicker – only 100 or so years after women got the vote one of them became PM. What disaster awaits us when LGBTIQ’s marry!

On the right’s response to the No voting kids’ entertainer

Damien writes: Re. “Razer: why are right-wing snowflakes like Bolt so mad over this sacked kids’ entertainer?” (Thursday)

Nice article, the problem being that pointing out blatant hypocrisy in an argument is now completely futile. The paleo-right simply do not care how hypocritical they are, their one and only aim is “winning”. They are actually rewarded, time and time again, for blatant hypocrisy by the wilfully ignorant voters who elect them (the very existence of the National Party is a testament to this).

This is well summed up in Keane’s article about Tony Abbott and the conclusion that the right “see the world as a hierarchy in which the restoration of the right people to the top of the hierarchy ensures all is well, no matter what action they might take, or even if they take no action at all”.

On coal-fired power stations

This in relation to email from Wayne Cusick, regarding coal fire stations being built after 1996: The Millmerran Power Station is a coal-fired power station south of Millmerran in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia. The power station was commissioned in 2002 and cost $1.5 billion to build.
