Once again we saw the metro/regional split emerge, though Seven was much closer in the metros last night, despite the prominence of the The Block Glasshouse. Seven clearly won the regions, while in the metros, Seven won overall, but lost the main channels by 0.2%. The Block Glasshouse had 1.794 million national/ 1.167 million metro/ 627,000 regional viewers.

In the race to the bottom of the viewing pool, Ten’s The Bachelor had 1.047 million national/ 774,000 metro/ 273,000 regional viewers, while Nine’s Big Brother saw its audience stagnate (compared to the previous night) at 871,000 national/ 634,000 metro/ 237,000 regional viewers. So The Bachelor “won” as did Big Brother  in that there were more people who didn’t watch the program last night than watched it.

In the morning, no joy for Nine as Today’s audience fell under 300,000 yesterday morning (after two days above that crucial level) — the program has 280,000 metro viewers, a massive 131,000 behind Seven’s Sunrise which saw its audience rise to 411,000 people

Losers:  The Bachelor, Big Brother and Tom Ballard, the host of Reality Check on ABC 1 for a tacky, talentless one liner about an armless piano player who won the Chinese version of a reality TV talent program a couple of years ago. Ballard’s a quip about how the winner didn’t play chopsticks? Gee Tom, tasteless, slightly racist and not very funny. Having Peter Abbott (executive producer of the first four series of Big Brother and the voice of Big Brother on the program) was a reality/credibility check in itself for Reality Check — Abbott’s presence lifted the whole program.)Metro news and current affairs:
