A funny night and one that really didn’t register with many viewers, judging by the morning reports. The Commonwealth Games saved Ten from a rotten night, helping it to a gentle decline from Monday night’s year high peak. In fact, the Games coverage was the network’s most watched bits of programming last night.

Tonight it’s The Bachelor, so gird your loins, close your eyes and watch for Ten! Nine won the metros both overall and in the main channels, but in the regions Seven was the clear winner. The X Factor had a modest night with 1.711 million national/ 1.108 million metro/ 663,000 regional viewers (which boosted it to the top nationally after the average performance in the metros). But no such lift for The Block Glasshouse from regional viewers, where viewers remainwary of all things reality from Nine and Ten. The Block had 1.453 million national/ 1.001 million metro/ 452,000 regional viewers.

ABC’s Foreign Correspondent tackled the forthcoming Scottish independence vote story and managed 846,000 national/ 616,000 regional/ 230,000 metro viewers. At 6pm, Nine News gave Seven News a real whacking, winning by 100,000 in Sydney; 167,000 in Melbourne and a smaller 10,000 in Brisbane. Seven won Adelaide and Perth as usual.
